TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati announced that the smuggling of luxury vehicles, both cars and motorcycles, experienced a significant hike in 2019.
“I don’t know exactly why, this why we will look deeper, but the rise itself is astonishing,” said Sri Mulyani in Tanjung Priok, Tuesday, December 17.
However, she suspects that the illegal activity thrived in 2019 due to the fact that the country was concentrated in transitioning to a new administration.

The total value of these smuggled cars is said to reach RP315.99 billion while motorcycles amounted to Rp13.71 billion.
