TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan confirmed that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had tapped Rudiantara as the president director of electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
Luhut opined that Rudiantara, who was a former minister of communication and information, is a proper figure to lead the state-run company.
“I think the President appointing Pak Rudi is the right decision. And in my opinion, PLN will be more advanced,” said Luhut at Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Monday, December 9.
Luhut explained that Rudiantara is a great figure, and that could be seen when he served as a minister in the Working Cabinet of Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla. Besides, Rudiantara had a background in managing the electricity firm. "He is a great person and knows about PLN. He also did a good job in the cabinet."
Previously, State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir said he was reorganizing the boards of directors of PLN. During the process, he said there were several candidates to serve as the new chair.
According to Erick, his side had proposed three names to President Jokowi, including Sripeni Intan Cahyani who was PLN acting president director. The minister also mulled to reshuffle boards of directors and commissioners of PLN considering the firm must divert its business orientation.
