TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Minister Teten Masduki spoke about its newest regulation that mandates online stores in e-commerce platforms to have an official business permit.
Minister Teten believes that Government Decree No.80/2019 on electronic system trades (PMSE) will not cause problems in the future. He argues that it would enable the government to elevate SMEs as a business entity or institution.
By having an official business permit, he says, enables online store owners to file for business funds to grow their businesses.
“[It’s not as if] mandating the business permits will close the chance for SMEs that are not in the form of a business entity,” quipped Minister Teten today.
Another aim in the issuance of the regulation is to push for the formalization of SMEs through startups. “This itself will ease the access to loans in the form of an institution,” he said.
However, he acknowledges that there will be a transitional period that is meant to parallel with the readiness and preparations of the online stores themselves.
