TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Rocky Gerung said he meant it when he issued a comment implying President Jokowi does not understand the country’s five-state ideologies or Pancasila.
“I’m serious when I said that the President does not understand,” said Rocky to Tempo on Wednesday, December 5.
The university lecturer defends that if President Jokowi does indeed fathom the Pancasila, no government regulations contradicting the five state ideologies would be produced.
Rocky Gerung gave an example regarding the environment where the government plans to simplify bureaucracy by eliminating the requirement for corporations to issue an environmental impact analysis (Amdal) in submitting investment deals. He argues that it violates the fifth Pancasila.
The other example he said proves his initial comment is when the government chose to increase the social healthcare (BPJS) premium amidst a tough economy.
Another example he gave is Jokowi’s government policy that disbanded mass organizations by issuing a regulation in lieu of law (Perpu) that goes against the spirit of democracy.
