TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Novel Baswedan's team of attorneys met with the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM). They asked the Commission to pay special attention to the acid attack on their client.
"We are here to remind and urge Komnas HAM to follow up and give more serious attention to Novel," Muhammad Isnur said at the Komnas HAM office, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 4.
To Komnas HAM's commissioner Choirul Anam and deputy Sandra Moniaga, Isnur asked for two things. First, for the Commission to follow up on the Novel's case Legal Proceedings' Monitoring Report, which was released on December 21, 2018; and second, to have that the report was made public.
Isnur said many people still do not yet know what the Komnas HAM's findings of the case are.
"Whether the Komnas HAM publishes it, or we are given the permission to publish, spread the monitoring report," he said.
Isnur also questioned how the Komnas' supervisors are following up on the other recommendations. For example, if abuse of process was found by an investigator.
"It's been a year. And this has also passed the deadline given by the President," he reminded.
