TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said he was still mulling over candidates for the supervisory board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He said there were still a few weeks left before arriving at a decision.
“It’s still in the selection process by the internal team of the State Secretary Ministry, so [we have not] reached a final process yet,” said the president at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, December 2.
The president said that he would tap the right persons among candidate names proposed to him.
“We want to choose those having good track records, good integrity, experience in legal, criminal affairs, and also matters related to audit for financial management,” he added.
Earlier, the former Jakarta governor announced that he would inaugurate the anti-graft body’s supervisory board soon, which is not through the mechanism of a selection process by a committee as ruled in Article 69A (1) of Law No. 19/2019 on KPK.
However, he assured the people that he would appoint candidates who had good credibility.
Meanwhile, presidential spokesman Fadjroel Rachman said the president would not wait for the result of the material test of the newly-revised KPK Law at the Constitutional Court to decide on the members of the KPK supervisory board.
