TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Competition Commission or ICC is holding the seventh session of alleged monopoly and business discrimination by the Solusi Transportasi Indonesia a.k.a. Grab Indonesia and PT Teknologi Pengangkutan Indonesia. Grab Indonesia is represented by celebrity lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea.
The hearing on Tuesday, November 26, is to hear the testimonies of investigators' witnesses. Hotman Paris said the witness examination will be held twice, today and tomorrow.
The ICC had held three hearings in Medan and three in Jakarta for the alleged monopoly by Grab.
In the third trial, Hotman read his client's rebuttal or absolute denial of the allegations against the company. He said that the accusations against his client did not parse out elements detrimental to the public interest. He also stated there are no entities that felt their business continuity was threatened by Grab-TPI's partnership.
At the second hearing last week, prosecutors stated Grab had given exclusive treatment to drivers from TPI, a car rental service provider company. Because of this, the company's independent partners are assumed to be at a disadvantage for not getting the same treatment from Grab.
In today's trial, Hotman said, the head judge will be replaced. This change is a follow-up to Hotman's protest against a former member of the panel of judges, Guntur Saragih, who gave a statement to the media that could form public opinion, which is a violation of court rules.
