TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After his appointment as a chief commissioner of state gas and oil firm Pertamina, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (BTP) or better known as Ahok attended the 2019 Pertamina Energy Forum in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 26.
He, who donned a long-sleeved batik shirt, arrived at the event with Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Arifin Tasrif and other guests.
“Welcome Bapak chief commissioner and ESDM Minister in Pertamina Energy Forum,” said Pertamina’s president director Nicke Widyawati during her speech.
The greeting for the former Jakarta governor drew loud applause. Nicke then explained that the goals of a series of the discussion are knowledge and experience transfer regarding the energy industry, both national and global.
Nicke also highlighted that the global need for energy is gradually increasing, including the country’s need.
Meanwhile, ESDM Minister Arifin Tasrif said during his speech, “Pertamina must work hard to boost the production of oil and gas in Indonesia.”
Arifin underlined that preserving the existing natural resources is vital in a bid to keep the national production stable. Sustainable energy must also be established to create green energy.
