TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Rizal Sukma reaffirmed the government's commitment to pushing creative and innovative thinking to boost the capacity of Indonesian human resources.

"The government's commitment to cultivating out-of-the box thinking aims to increase the capacity of Indonesia's human resources," Rizal noted in a statement received on Saturday.

He stated that President Joko Widodo had demonstrated such commitment by naming a businessman as education and culture minister, offering incentives for investments, and appointing youth as his special staffs.

He made the statement during the roundtable Indonesia workshop held in between the Asia Matters Business Summit held in Ireland on Friday (November 22).

Addressing 30 business players attending the discussion, the ambassador highlighted the criticality of incorporating human resource development in the strategic direction of Indonesia's policies in the coming five years.

Focusing on such sector has become a vital aspect for Indonesia, given its target on capitalizing on innovation and creativity that in turn has become a key driver for the country to compete and boost the economy.

Sukma believed that the presence of such intellectual assets is deemed necessary to guard and ensure the achievement of strategic priorities of President Jokowi's administration in the next five years in the sector of infrastructure development, regulatory reform, streamlining of organizational structure, and transformation.
