Police Chief Likens Novel Baswedan's Case to Akseyna's

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police Chief Gen. Idham Azis said the police had taken extra efforts to unveil the case of the attack against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) senior investigator Novel Baswedan.
“We have examined 73 witnesses, reviewed and analyzed 38 recordings of the surveillance camera, investigated 114 chemical stores near Novel’s house, and so on,” said Idham during a hearing meeting with the Law Commission of the House of Representatives (DPR) at Nusantara II Building DPR-MPR, Senayan, South Jakarta, Wednesday, November 20.
Idham said that each case had its own characteristics. For instance, the murder case of one family in Pulomas, East Jakarta that was disclosed in a short time. “Because of the presence of CCTV and the perpetrators could be easily acknowledged,” he added.
The police chief further mentioned the murder case of the University of Indonesia (UI) student Akseyna Ahad Dori that remained uncovered to date. He admitted it was considered a difficult case to be revealed.
“Despite we have probed 28 witnesses, multiple pieces of evidence, the case has not been solved yet for the past 3.5 years,” Idham Azis explained.
