PT KAI Anticipates Rise in Train Users for Christmas, New Year

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Director of state-owned railway operator PT KAI, Edi Sukmoro predicts that this year’s Christmas and New Year’s celebration will see a 4 percent increase in train users.
“The train operations will start from December 19, 2019, up to January 5, 2020, for a total of 18 days. The increase is predicted to be in the level of 4 percent from 5.6 million to 5.9 million users,” said Edi Sukmoro at the Jakarta Railway Center headquarters in Central Jakarta on Monday.
PT KAI is set to operate 404 train routes which are a 2.5 percent increase compared to 2018 that saw the operations of 394 trains. These include the operations of regular trains and additional Nataru trains.
“PT KAI predicts December 22 - December 29 to be the preferred dates for people to use the train services,” he said.
The train operator also announced that the tickets for 30 additional Nataru train routes can be booked online and offline as early as November 25.
