PKS Opens Possibility to Back Gibran Jokowi with PDIP

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has opened up possibilities to endorse President Jokowi’s eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming, in the 2020 Solo Mayoral Election.
PKS secretary-general Mustafa Kamal said that his party encouraged every nation’s child having the capacity and potential to be a leader.
“We will fully support those sharing the same commitment, vision to develop the nation and the country,” said Mustafa in Bidakara Hotel, South Jakarta, Thursday, November 14.
Gibran Jokowi previously stated his readiness to run the regional head election in Solo next year. The father of Jan Ethes Srinarendra had even visited PDIP chair Megawati Soekarnoputri in Jakarta.
According to Mustafa, the Islamist party will receive inputs from cadres in regions. PKS regional offices have a discussion forum in which they proposing candidate names to the central office.
The party’s central executive board (DPP) will consider the names. “We will eventually make the decision,” he added.
PKS even opened the possibility to form a coalition with the ruling PDIP Party backing Gibran Jokowi. Mustafa underlined that his party is ready to communicate with other parties about the 2020 Regional Head Election, either those in the government coalition or opposition.
