  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The suicide bombing on Wednesday at the Medan Police headquarters in Medan, North Sumatra, has proved that terrorism and radicalism are not completely finished.

"Mutual awareness is needed to prevent and crush terrorism until its stops," said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Coordinator of Politics and Defense, Azis Syamsuddin, in a statement on Wednesday.

The implementation of Article 43A paragraph (3) of the Terrorism Law is not merely the responsibility of the National Police, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), and the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), Azis stated.

Azis added that the community must play an active role in reporting all forms of suspicious activity in the surrounding environment because terrorism is the common enemy.

He appealed to all parties to increase vigilance because he saw the terrorist movement in Indonesia had transformed from congregations to individual action.

Azis strongly condemned the suicide bombing which wounded four policemen at the Medan Police headquarters in Medan, North Sumatra.

Acts of terrorism committed by anyone are not justified by any religion.
