Bappenas Taps Central Java as Role Model of National Development

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Development Planning Agency or Bappenas has tapped Central Java as the role model of the national development, given the province’s achievements.

"We name Central Java role model because it won the 2019 regional development award at the national level. We will also publish a book as a development guide for other regions," said Bappenas Director for Monitoring, Evaluating and Controlling of Regional Development Agustin Ariyana in Semarang, Monday, November 11.

Regarding the plan, the agency team conducted an interview with Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo at the latter’s office.

Agustin further explained that the book would discuss smart measures to boost regional development. This book, she added, would be distributed to other regions that wanted to mimic Central Java's achievement on the development.

"This will be an alternative solution for other regions to imitate Central Java’s success," Agustin remarked.

Agustin further mentioned that the book would note recommendations from Governor Ganjar Pranowo in developing Central Java and various tips, including Ganjar's communication style and his unique ways of leading the province.

Governor Ganjar Pranowo, meanwhile, expressed his glee for the book publication by Bappenas, especially given the book could be a reference for other regions to move forward.

Ganjar stated that he wanted all innovations and achievements of each region to be combined as national programs. "That way, the development of Indonesia can have clearer direction and standards," he said.
