TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said that the tariff of light rail transit of LRT Jabodebek, which is connecting Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi, could be set under Rp12,000 per passenger.
“It’s possible,” said Budi on Jalan Jenderal Gatot Soebroto, Jakarta, Monday, November 11.
However, Budi stated that the ticket fee would be determined ahead of the train operational period. The LRT Cawang - Cibubur was expected to start operation in 2021.
According to Budi, the tariff was subjected to change from the initial plan under several considerations, starting from the passengers’ number, certain cost, up to income from the operation.
“For example, if the income is high, we may drop [the rate]. We will observe the justification at the end of the operation,” Budi added.
Previously reported, Budi predicted that the train tariff might be set at Rp12,000 per passenger. “It’s a subsidized price. The commercial rate is Rp25,000,” said the minister when inspecting LRT Harjamukti Station, Cibubur, East Jakarta, Sunday, October 13.
The government reportedly planned to grant subsidy through public service obligation at 50 percent. The tariff was said to be valid for all destinations.
As of November 1, 2019, the construction of LRT Jabodebek phase 1 reached 67.3 percent. As for details, the progress for Cawang - Cibubur route was at 86.2 percent, Cawang - East Bekasi at 60.5 percent, and Cawang - Kuningan - Dukuh Atas at 58.3 percent.
