Jakarta Honorary Body to Summon PSI Politician over Budget Fiasco

5 November 2019 20:04 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Honorary Body of Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) stated it would summon a faction member from the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), William Aditya Sarana, to follow-up the public report about the alleged ethics violation committed by the young legislator.

“We have held a meeting with members and decided to summon William,” said the Council’s Honorary Body chairman Achmad Nawawi, Tuesday, November 5.

A Jakarta resident Sugiyanto reported William to the Council’s Honorary Body on Monday, November 4. The head of NGO of Maju Kotanya Bahagia Warganya deemed the PSI politician violated the Jakarta Council’s Regulation No. 1/2014 on the code of conduct.

Sugiyanto said that William violated the policy for uploading the city’s odd budget plan on social media, in which noted the unreasonably high budget of Rp82 billion for glue purchase.

“I think it was an alleged violation against the code of ethics in delivering opinions. [William was] not mindful of manners, ethics, morals,” Sugiyanto told Tempo via a phone call, Monday, November 4.

Achmad predicted that his side would call in William next Monday considering several members were on a working visit for the next three days starting Thursday, November 7.

During today’s meeting, Achmad said the Council’s Honorary Body could not conclude the alleged ethics violation yet and would soon submit a recommendation to the DPRD higher-ups after having a decision.

“The Council speakers will decide and announce [the result]. We just give recommendations,” Achmad said.
