  • TEMPO.CO, JakartaState-owned railway operator PT KAI Operational Region (Daop) 1 Jakarta considered the Jakarta Mystical Tour organized by Biang Ovanlander a dangerous event since it was held bereft of permission at active railroads where the 1987 Bintaro Tragedy occurred.

The horror tour held on Friday, November 1, nearly caused an accident.

KAI Daop 1 Jakarta senior manager Eva Chairunisa said in a written statement, Jakarta, Monday, November 4, that her side did not receive any notification from the event organizer regarding the tour activity.

According to Eva, railroads of the 1987 Bintaro Tragedy used as the tour location were active tracks with fairly heavy traffic. Referring to Law No. 23/2007 on railways, people are prohibited from standing at the railways or using them for purposes other than for train transportation.

In addition, Article 53(1) of the Government's Regulation No. 56/2009 noted that everyone is barred from entering or being on the railways, except train officers who bear an assignment letter from the train operator.

Therefore, the mystery tour violated the prevailing law and the government's regulation, endangered the safety of the train travel and threatened the lives of people in the area.

KAI Daop 1 Jakarta then banned the organizer from carrying out such an agenda by taking the railroad area as its future tour destination.

“We demand all people not carry out activities around the rail tracks. Let’s together create safety in train travel because this is our shared responsibility,” Eva stressed.
