Jakarta E-Budgeting System Upgraded After Glue Allocation Fiasco

4 November 2019 06:54 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaGovernor Anies Baswedan announced that his administration is in the midst of conducting a stringent upgrade on the city’s electronic budget allocation system known as the E-budgeting system which will be completed as of next year.

The Jakarta governor assured that there will no longer be another case of budgeting irregularities such as the implausible Aibon glue allocation that swarmed media headlines last week. He claims each input to the system will be able to be verified.

“The current system cannot dissect why there are “funny budgets,” whether it is due to laziness, negligence, or [other influences],” said Anies Baswedan at the Hotel Indonesia roundabout on Sunday.

As of the details of the system’s upgrades, Anies maintained that it will be announced during the launch and only asserts that it will be improved and different from the current e-budgeting system. He also asserts that the current condition makes it possible for manipulation.

The city’s e-budgeting input mistake saw the city filing for the Rp82 billion budget plan on the purchase of Aibon branded glue in the city’s 2020 regional budget plan. During the heated debate on the glue allocation, Anies Baswedan openly blamed the system that he deemed “unintelligent” and mentioned that it is the inheritance of former Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama.
