TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - SOE Minister Erick Thohir met with Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif at the latter's office in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 29. Among other issues, the two new ministers discussed energy management in Indonesia.
During the meeting that lasted more than one hour, the Energy Ministry reported, Erick and Arifin talked about the implementation of synergies between their two ministries—based on the president's direction for SOEs to create jobs to improve the economy.
The two ministers also talked about energy management and mineral resources in the future, including aspects related to oil and gas, coal minerals, electricity and renewable new energy sectors.
For his second term in office, Presiden Joko Widodo instructed his ministers not to have their own, individual agendas—and work together to actualize the president and vice president's visions instead. Each ministry is also mandated to continue the successful programs of their predecessors.
Specifically for the oil and gas sector, Jokowi wants optimized efficiency measures that will cut import costs in a bid to save the state budget.
