TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Southeast Sulawesi Police confirmed that cow dung had been thrown at their personnel taking guard in the students protest in Kendari on Monday, Oct. 28.
The local police chief of public relations Adj. Sr. Commissioner Harry Golden Hart says the police are holding an investigation to the matter. When the protests on Monday turned restless, protesters could be seen on amateur video footage online throwing a transparent plastic bag suspected to be filled with cow dung.
“We are conducting an investigation upon the incident,” said Harry in a text message to Tempo earlier today, Oct. 29.
The students' protest was held in front of the Southeast Sulawesi Police headquarters by the united Southeast Sulawesi students forum. They demand the police to immediately solve the bloody incident that saw two students being shot in previous rallies.
Officer Harry confirmed that some police personnel was affected by the brief manure shower as the dirt ended up on police uniforms and shields.
