TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Police's chief of information Sr. Comr. Asep Adi Saputra said that the anti-terror squad Densus 88 keeps an eye on ISIS movements in Indonesia following news of the death of the terrorist group leader, Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi. The police are taking extra precautions to possible retaliation bh effort ISIS followers in Indonesia.
"Al-Baghdadi's death has been announced internationally and we are increasing vigilance," Asep said in Jakarta, Monday, October 29.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is believed to have been killed in a military attack by the United States in Syria on Saturday, October 26. In a speech at the White House, US President Donald Trump stated Baghdadi was killed after attempting to escape, and as he was cornered he decided to blow up his suicide vest.
Trump also said that the US military operation killed a number of ISIS members, including three of Baghdadi's children.
In Indonesia, the Densus 88 is monitoring situations closely, since Baghdadi's death does not necessarily indicate ISIS' forces in Syria has weakened.
The Densus 88, Asep said, has not toned down its watch over terrorist cells' movement in the country.
"The Densus 88 consistently monitors and arrests those suspected of being members of terrorist groups."
