TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Onward Indonesia Cabinet of the Joko Widodo (Jokowi) Government must promote a strong synergy and solidity to materialize more national development progress than in the previous administration, according to Siti Zuhro, a political observer of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI).
"The cabinet during Jokowi's second term must accentuate good solidity, synergy and coordination in order to yield more concrete and beneficial works," Siti Zuhro said on Saturday.
She expressed her hope that the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin administration's cabinet comprising fresh faces and old hands, could make greater progresses compared to the previous cabinet under the Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla government (2014-2019).
Working fast, precisely and productively is needed to materialize the objectives of the national development programs, to make Indonesia more advanced and to improve the people's welfare.
In the meantime, Jokowi has made an official announcement of the new cabinet line-up for the second-term of his administration and made seven instructions amply clear for the ministers to follow.
"Do not be involved in corruption. Create a system that closes loopholes for corruption," Jokowi remarked at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (Oct. 23, 2019).
Secondly, he said there must be no a ministerial vision and mission, as they must focus on the vision and mission of the president and vice president.
Thirdly, the president urged his ministers to work in a hard, fast, and productive manner.
Fourthly, he reminded the ministers to not become trapped in routine and monotonous activities.
"Works must be oriented toward getting concrete results. Our task is not only limited to 'sent' but until 'delivered,'" Jokowi emphasized.
He earlier pointed out that a minister must not only carry out and complete his works but must also ensure that the people benefit from it.
He also instructed his minister to check problems on the field and find solutions.
The last instruction of the president stressed on the need for ministers to work seriously.
"Those who are not serious, for sure (he or she), will be replaced," he affirmed.
Jokowi has installed four coordinating ministers, 31 ministers, three ministerial-level officials, and 12 deputy ministers.
