TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Moon and Star Party ("PBB") was not among President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's newly established cabinet for his 2019-2024 term. Not one of the party's cadre were named as deputy minister on Friday, October 25, 2019.
Nevertheless, PBB, who is part of the government coalition, is certain that there has to be a position for them in the government.
"Me as the Secretary General and PBB cadre, hoped that Pak Yusril can help Pak Jokowi in accordance with his field and expertise," said PBB Secretary General Arfiansyah Ferry Noor on Friday, October 25, 2019.
Ferry said that there is still the National Legislation Center, an institution which will be established in the near future by President Jokowi's government. Ferry asserted that the institution, which will have the same level as a ministry, matches the field and expertise of PBB Chairman Yusril Ihza Mahendra.
"But it is up to Pak Jokowi. We want to help Pak Jokowi in the National Legislation Center. That is what we hoped for," Ferry added.
Ferry further stated that Yusril had never requested for any position to President Jokowi. Ferry added that Yusril's support for Jokowi was sincere and unconditional.
Ferry said that Yusril never communicated with Jokowi concerning position in the government. Ferry explained that all this time, communication with the state palace was conducted by Ferry.
"I was communicating with Pak [Pratiknyo], I was communicating with Pak Jokowi's aides," Ferry said.
