TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminded the newly-sworn State Ministers of the “Indonesia Maju” Cabinet to understand the new legal boundaries regarding bribery, gratification, and grafts.
KPK asserts that their warning must be understood thoroughly by first-time government officials such as GoJek founder Nadiem Makarim who is now the Education Minister; SOEs Affairs Minister Erick Thohir; and Wishnutama as the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.
“We strongly suggest anything related to rewards heavily linked to the person’s position in office shall be rejected since the beginning,” said KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah on Thursday, October 24.
However, the KPK spokesman reminds that if they find themselves in situations where they can’t directly refuse gratifications, the ministers can always report it to the KPK within 30-working days.
Febri reminds that it is an attempt to prevent corruption among government officials. He also asserts the seriousness in preventing and acting-upon graft cases.
