TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Democrat Party sent congratulations for the inauguration of ministers in Jokowi’s second-term cabinet. The party secretary-general Hinca Pandjaitan said that his side respected the President’s political decision that excluded his party in the latter’s government.
“Despite communication and calls from President Jokowi, Democrat believes the President, who decided to not involve Democrat Party, has a good intention and purpose,” said Hinca in a written statement, Wednesday, October 23.
He reiterated the party understood that the cabinet formation was the President’s prerogative rights which cannot be interfered with by any party.
“Regarding the position of the Democrat Party in the future, it will be decided later. When the time comes, Democrat chair Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) will make an official statement,” he added.
However, Hinca went on, his party was basically determined to make a contribution to the government. “Democrat wants to take part and contribute so that President Jokowi’s administration will be successful,” he said.
