TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said he has no problem if many political party leaders also serve as a minister in his new cabinet, 'Kabinet Indonesia Maju' (cabinet of Indonesia onward). What's more important is, he opined, the ministers are capable of managing their time.

The President’s policy is referred to his experience in the first term when he swore Golkar Party chair Airlangga Hartarto.

“Based on the experience in the past five years, whether [a minister] is a party leader or not, what I deem the most important is he can manage time,” said President Joko Widodo at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 23.

Three ministers of Jokowi’s second-term cabinet remained as chairs of a political party. They are Coordinating Minister for Economy Affairs Airlangga Hartarto (Golkar Party Chair), Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto (Gerindra Party Chair), and Bappenas Minister Suharso Monoarfa (PPP Acting Chair).

Meanwhile, Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate also served as NasDem Party secretary-general, Social Minister Juliari Batubara as a PDIP deputy treasurer, Manpower Minister Ida Fauziah (the deputy head of PKB), Village Minister Abdul Halim Iskandar (head of PKB East Java branch), and Youth and Sports Minister Zainuddin Amali (head of Golkar DPP).
