PAN Responds to Prabowo Subianto Slated for Defense Minister

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Mandate Party (PAN) central executive board (DPP) head, Yandri Susanto, admitted that he was surprised by the news of Gerindra’s Prabowo Subianto becoming a State Minister under the Jokowi - Ma’ruf Amin Cabinet.
Yandri said he cannot imagine Prabowo as a Defense Minister attending work meetings with House of Representatives (DPR) Commission I.
“We surely are surprised that Pak Prabowo accepted the position as State Minister. I can’t imagine the former presidential candidate in a work meeting with DPR’s Commission I. People would mistakenly refer to him as a presidential candidate instead of Mr. Minister,” said Yandri jokingly on Tuesday.
Yandri said that PAN fully respects Prabowo’s decision, together with Gerindra, upon joining forces with the government’s political party coalition.
He personally believes that this is Prabowo Subianto’s grand dream to actively devote his time for the nation and also clear up his reputation.
“It might act to clear up his name that was marred with pros and cons lately,” he said.
