Jakarta Plans Completing Three Flyovers, One Underpass by 2020

22 October 2019 13:15 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Provincial Government of Jakarta is targeting the construction of three flyovers and one underpass to be completed by 2020. The projects, which has a budget of half a trillion, will be constructed for a period of two years.

"They have a multi-year budget that totals at Rp500 billion," Jakarta's Bina Marga Office head Hari Nugroho said on Monday, October 21.

The three flyovers are located in Tanjung Barang, South Jakarta; Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta; and Cakung, East Jakarta. Meanwhile, the underpass is located in the Senen area, Central Jakarta.

Hari said the four projects' construction have started. Right now, some are at the construction design phase and next year physical construction will begin.

Once the four projects finished construction, Hari said, the government will temporarily stop all constructions of flyovers and underpasses at one-level crossings. The government will focus on building sidewalks first. "Because flyovers and underpasses are costly. We changed the concept," he said.
