TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Security at the office of Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Panjaitan was beefed up following the unfortunate attack on Minister Wiranto which saw him stabbed in the abdomen. Journalists intending to interview Luhut now face a new administration procedure.
Prior to the attack, journalists only needed to show their official Press ID before waiting for the minister at the office’s waiting room. However, journalists are now required to show an official letter of assignment prior to interviewing Luhut.
Luhut Panjaitan’s expert staff, Atmadji Soemarkidjo, confirmed that the new procedure has been made effective immediately after the stabbing of Wiranto took place. Luhut’s office is known among journalists for the lack of a media center, though Atmadji promised to establish one later in the future.
“Yes, it is for our collective security,” said Atmadji on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
On Thursday of October 10, Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law, and Security Affairs Wiranto was attacked by an assailant in front of the Mathla’ul Anwar University at Saketi, Pandeglang, Banten.
