TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The anti-terror squad Densus 88 arrested four suspected terrorists in Cirebon and Bandung, West Java. From October 10 to 15, the Densus had arrested 26 suspected terrorists.
The four who were arrested recently were S and LT in Cirebon, as well as DP and MNA in Bandung.
"LT was being groomed to become a suicide bomber. The targets are the police headquarters and places of worship in Cirebon. The bombs had been prepared by the Cirebon JAD," said National Police Headquarters's spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo said in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 15.
The police searched LT's house and confiscated chemical liquids and equipment, along with several other items of evidence. According to Dedi, the chemical equipment was ready to be used as a bomb when it was found by the police.
Dedi said that the bomb prepared by LT had high explosive power.
The LT and S are known to be part of the JAD Cirebon terrorist network and are connected to the suspected terrorists who were arrested on October 13.
The suspects who were captured in Bandung, DP and MNA, said Dedi, also targeted the police and a number of houses of worship, but the JAD Bandung did not prepare suicide bombs.
"From suspect MNA we found pieces of evidence in the form of airsoft gun, folding knives, and a bottle of white liquid currently being checked in the forensic lab."
Dedi said that the 26 suspected terrorists' arrested are not related to the inauguration of the president and vice president-elect. The dozens of terrorists were arrested in different regions.
