TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spokesman of Gerindra Party’s Prabowo Subianto, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, maintains that Sandiaga Uno has declared his persistence to remain outside of the government in power. He also said Sandi’s return to Gerindra has nothing to do with President Jokowi’s upcoming cabinet.

“Sandiaga has officially stated his unwillingness to be inside the government,” said Dahnil on Tuesday, October 15.

This strictly puts to rest rumors of Sandiaga being appointed in Jokowi’s second term in office.

Dahnil further explained that the businessman has said numerous times that he prefers to focus on politics as a mentor for young and upcoming politicians, especially the young members of Gerindra Party heading to next year’s regional head election.

“[Sandiaga] intends to coach the young Gerindra members in 270 regional head election districts,” said Dahnil who also asserts the respect from Sandiaga and Prabowo toward each other.

Sandi’s return as a Gerindra politician will be officially set in the party’s national work meeting (Rakernas) planned to be held in Hambalang, Bogor, on Wednesday, October 16. He announced his resignation from the party in August of 2018 after becoming Prabowo’s running mate in the presidential election.
