TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan ensured that the stabbing of Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Wiranto will not disrupt the inauguration process of President Joko Widodo. The inauguration is scheduled for October 20.
Inisiator Cakra 19, the volunteers' group of Jokowi during the Presidential Election, said that the inauguration agenda would take place according to schedule.
"I don't see that [the stabbing incident] will have an impact on the inauguration of the President [Joko Widodo]," he said in Jakarta today, October 11.
Yesterday, Wiranto was attacked when stepping out of a car at the Menes Square, Pandeglang. He was stabbed by a member of the Bekasi JAD network group, Abu Rara a.k.a. Syahril Alamsyah.
Wiranto was immediately rushed to Gatot Subroto Army Hospital.
Luhut said he visited Wiranto on Friday morning before going to the office. He said Wiranto is recovering.
As a result of this incident, Luhut acknowledged the government needs to tighten security measures. However, he plead to the media and the public not to react too excessively and over-blow the incident.
"Life must go on," he said.
