TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former convicted terrorist Sofyan Tsauri says Menes - the location where the stabbing on Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, and Security Affairs Wiranto happened - is the home base for terrorist groups.

According to Sofyan, a terrorist group member of the Bali bombings was apprehended in this exact region located in Pandeglang, Banten.

“Many group members of terror cases come from Menes, which is why security should have been beefed-up as they entered the critical region,” said Sofyan to Tempo on Thursday, October 10.

According to the former Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) member, the government should not have let its guard down and set aside the safety of a state official in an area known as a red zone for terrorist groups.

“State Officials such as Pak Wiranto should have known these regions. Areas that are considered dangerous. There should have been beefed-up security there,” Sofyan said.

He then resumed the numerous still images and videos of the incident spread across the internet, suspecting the minister’s security had their guard down in an area that should have been sterilized.

On Thursday, Wiranto was stabbed by a man after visiting Mathla’ul Anwar Boarding School in Pandeglang, Banten. One of his staffers, Agus Zaini, affirmed the Coordinating Minister got an abdominal stab wound.
