2019 Art Bali to be Held in Nusa Dua

10 October 2019 21:07 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Nusa Dua - The annual art exhibition Art Bali featuring contemporary art will be held in Nusa Dua, Bali Province. This year’s show carries the theme of Speculative Memories.

The three-month exhibition will be opened starting Saturday, October 12. “We offer half-price tickets for students and local people on Sunday,” said the organizer committee Heri Pemad on Wednesday, October 9.

The ticket price is set at Rp150,000 for foreigners and Rp100,000 for domestic tourists. The rate is valid for weekdays and weekends.

Heri recalled that there was free entry on Tuesday in the 2018 event as momentum for artists across Bali and other regions to gather. He hoped the moment could recur this year.

“Even though the ticket entrance is no longer free and only discounts, we hope the moment can be repeated,” he added.

The art exhibition will feature curated artworks by 32 artists from Indonesia and abroad. The showcase curator Ignatia Nilu explained the event will present visual arts in various presentation media, such as painting, installation art, and new media arts.

There will be a total of 49 artworks, comprising 25 two-dimensional arts, five 3D artworks, and 19 installation and multimedia arts. “Artworks in this exhibition have their own story. We need a new effort to understand recent reality as to realize and celebrate humanity,” said Ignatia.

She added that Fashion Council Western Australia that annually holds Perth Fashion Festival (PFF) will give a contribution to the opening of 2019 Art Bali.
