Jokowi Orders Police, BIN to Fully Investigate Wiranto's Attacker

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has instructed National Police Chief Tito Karnavian and State Intelligence Agency (BIN) head Budi Gunawan to disclose the network of perpetrators who stabbed Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto.
“I have ordered Police Chief and BIN head who will be backed by TNI to thoroughly investigate and take stern action against the culprit and the network related to the incident this afternoon,” said the President after paying a visit to his minister at Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Jakarta, Thursday, October 10.
The President called on the public to combat radicalism and terrorism in the archipelago. “Through a joint force, we can eradicate terrorism and radicalism in our beloved country,” he remarked.
According to Joko Widodo, the former TNI commander is in a conscious state and will go through a medical operation.
Wiranto was stabbed by a man after visiting Mathla’ul Anwar Boarding School in Pandeglang, Banten, today afternoon. One of his staffers, Agus Zaini, affirmed the Coordinating Minister got an abdominal stab wound.
Wiranto received first aid treatment at Berkah Hospital, Pandeglang, before being flown away by helicopter to Gatot Soebroto Hospital.
