TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Wiranto, received intensive treatment after he was stabbed by a knife earlier today, October 10. The attack occurred when the retired general was visiting an Islamic boarding school in Pandeglang, Banten.

"He was attacked in Pandeglang. He was stabbed in the abdomen," Wiranto's staff Agus Zaini told Tempo, Thursday.

The minister was exiting the black car he rode to the location in. He stepped out from the left passenger door and shook hands with a police officer.

Photos and video footage that circulate online showed that from behind the car a man suddenly appeared. He was wearing a dark top and white loose pants. The clips also showed there was a brief scuffle between the attacker, Wiranto's staff, officers, and the minister himself. Wiranto then collapsed to his right.

Photographs taken showed the man's right hand was holding a short knife. The attack and the stabbing itself happened very quickly for only about 4 seconds.
