TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of NasDem Party’s People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Johnny G. Plate said that the discussion on the 1945 Constitution amendment may open the possibility to talk about changing the duration of a president’s term.
“The consistency of development is closely related to executive power. This relates to a president’s tenure in office, this should be further discussed later on,” said Johnny at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex on Monday.
He also mentioned that this involves the tenure of state executives all from the president, governor, regent, and mayors.
Johnny claimed the idea of discussing this matter was first mentioned by a group within the general public, though he did not specify which group he is referring to. This suggestion follows the previous MPR members who recommended the current members to amend the 1945 Constitution.
