5.4 Earthquake Strikes Enggano in Bengkulu

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A moderate magnitude 5.4 earthquake had reportedly struck the Southwest of Enggano in Bengkulu. Official reports by Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) states that the earthquake rattled the region at 03:09:33 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
The precise coordinates according to the BMKG suggests that the epicenter was 76 kilometers southwest off the coast of Enggano at 6.03 south latitude and 102.21 east longitude at the depth (hypocenter) of 29 kilometers.
The agency assures that the earthquake will not potentially cause a tsunami.
