Jalan Gatot Subroto Still Closed as Workers Union will Hold Rally

2 October 2019 09:17 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaOne of the city’s main road, Jalan Gatot Subroto, before the Parliament building is still closed for public traffic on Wednesday, October 2. The closure is due to the planned rally staged by the Confederation of Indonesian Workers’ Union (KSPI) today.

The road access from the intersection of Jalan Gatot Subroto towards Jalan Pemuda, Senayan until the intersection heading to Palmerah is blocked. Security officers put concrete separators to deter riders.

Another two barriers are placed in front of Pulau Dua Restaurant, next to the DPR-MPR building. In addition, barbed wires are set to prevent pedestrians from passing the area.

According to KSPI member Dadan, the mass will take to the streets at around 09:00 a.m.

As of 07:00 a.m., five members of KSPI are seen in the location, and one command vehicle is parked under the flyover near Jalan Gatot Subroto-Pemuda intersection. Meanwhile, there is no police officer standing guard in the area.

Only two Jakarta Transportation officials and one policeman riding a motorized vehicle are seen in conversation with KSPI members at the rally site.
