TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Toll road operator PT Jasa Marga has diverted traffic due to the ongoing student protest in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) headquarters. This effectively blocked a section at the Tomang-Cawang inner-city turnpike.

Jasa Marga's marketing and communications department head, Irra Susiyanti, said Monday the closure was mainly due to the protest's mass escalation and for the safety of toll road users.

"In order to maintain the safety of our road users, and due to police discretion, the traffic heading to the location of the student protest is shut,” said Ira.

Traffic from Jagorawi and Jakarta-Cikampek heading to Semanggi will be diverted to Jatinegara, while traffic from Jatinegara to Semanggi will be rerouted to TMII. Vehicles that are stuck in the student protest will be assisted out of the toll road by authorities.
