TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra secretary-general Ahmad Muzani announced the party's chairman, Prabowo Subianto, had signed legal documents appointing Sufmi Dasco Ahmad as a candidate for House of Representatives (DPR) deputy speaker and Ahmad Muzani as House speaker.
In other words, this confirms that Fadli Zon will no longer spearhead the parliament in the upcoming term. Ahmad Muzani, meanwhile, will continue to lead the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) for the upcoming term.
Muzani said that Prabowo’s decision regarding Fadli had been made clear in a meeting between the two, in which Prabowo expressed his gratitude for Fadli Zon’s service as House deputy speaker.
“Prabowo will appoint a new task for Fadli Zon in other fields that will be formulated by Pak Prabowo himself,” said Muzani at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex on Monday.
The decision to replace Fadli Zon is said to be a normal leadership rotation within the Gerindra Party. "This is important for leadership regeneration," he said.
