TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the release of Ananda Badudu, Jakarta Metro Jaya Police’s Spokesperson Grand Commissioner Argo Yuwono clarified their questioning of the former Banda Neira musician.
Argo said that police questioned him based on a lead that suggests a chain of funds for the string of students’ protests that was traced back to Ananda. He said that there were indications of the former musician wiring money to one of the protesters who resisted police in the protest.
“At first there was a group of protesters opposing authorities who were already named as suspects. One of them mentioned about receiving a transfer of Rp10 million from the witness (Ananda),” said Argo on Friday.
Argo asserts that Ananda was questioned strictly as a witness and assured that the witness had been sent home right after the questioning ended.
“We communicated with him and asked for his statement, [and] he agreed. He would be sent home after the questioning’s completed,” said the police.
Earlier today, the Metro Jaya Police nabbed Ananda Badudu for raising funds to support the nationwide students protest via KitaBisa crowdfunding platform on September 23-24.
Ananda said he was moved to contribute the college students who are expressing their aspirations and that his intention in creating the KitaBisa page was to fund the protesters’ logistical needs.
