Police Assert No Live Bullet Allowed in Students Protest at DPR

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police has declared that the officers are not armed with live bullets in securing students protest which is held today, September 24, before the DPR-MPR building.
Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo said the security personnel are only equipped with shields, water cannons, and tear gas.
“Water cannons and tear gas will be used if protesters conduct anarchy acts and destroy public facilities,” said Dedi Tuesday, September 24.
Students from numerous universities have again staged demonstration today in front of the parliament building. They are demanding seven things to the government.
One of the requests is the rejection of amended Law No. 30/2002 on Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) which has been ratified recently.
Jakarta Metro Police dispatched 18,000 joint personnel to stand guard the rally. Dedi called on all students to be vigilant against intruders.
“You have to truly acknowledge your friends. Beware of intruders joining the group because students’ attribute can be easily obtained. This is what we are worried about,” said Dedi.
