TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Sports and Youth Minister Imam Nahrawi a suspect of bribery in the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI).
"KPK named two as suspects; IMR and MIU," said KPK deputy chief Alexander Marwata at his office on Wednesday, September 18.
KPK suspected that Imam, through his assistant Miftahul Ulum, had received Rp14.7 billion throughout 2014-2018. The minister was also allegedly received Rp11.8 billion during the 2016-2018 period, so the total is Rp26.5 billion.
According to Alex, some of the money Imam received was related to the disbursement of Koni's grant funds in the 2018 fiscal year. The minister also received the money as his chairman position in the Board of Directors of the Indonesia Gold Program Task Force, as well as his other positions at the ministry.
"He used the money for his personal interest and others," said the KPK deputy.
