Haze Issue; Minister Calls for Regional Govt's Receptiveness

17 September 2019 16:43 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo called for the head of regions - which are affected by the widespread forest fires - to be more sensitive upon handling haze issues together with central government and related state instances.

“We ask for Governors, Regents, and Mayors to be more aware, with the armed forces (TNI), Police, and every related element to tackle the issue together,” said the home affairs minister in South Tangerang on Tuesday, September 17.

The Home Affairs Ministry also called on regional heads to pay close attention and run the instructions that were distributed one month ago, which basically had the same orders as Minister Tjahjo Kumolo's aforementioned orders.

The minister also requested regional administrations to prepare the needed budgets by requesting it from the Regional Budget (APBD) which will enable the independence of regional administrations from central government.
