TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Ombudsman head Teguh Nugroho demanded Jakarta provincial administration temporarily stop cutting fiber-optic utility network, which is part of the city's pedestrian renovation program.
Teguh said the overhead cable cut hindered internet network as experienced by consumers in Cikini, Central Jakarta.
“Even the internet network at a ministry office is cut off,” said Teguh to Tempo, Friday, September 13.
According to him, the internet network at the Defense Ministry building was not working after the Jakarta administration cut cables along Jalan Cikini Raya. Teguh claimed to have no idea as to how long the disruption would persist. He said the ministry had asked for clarifications to the regional administration.
The Jakarta Ombudsman received reports from the Indonesian Association of Telecommunication Network Provider or APJATEL regarding the cable cutting that they were complained by internet users in Cikini, Menteng.
He asserted that his side would seek accounts from Jakarta’s Bina Marga Agency to ensure that the city’s program did not violate the Regional Regulation No. 8/1999 on utility networks and the Gubernatorial Instruction No. 126/2019 on control and installment of utility networks.
Teguh Nugroho also reminded the Jakarta administration to not sacrifice public services in the program of disordered overhead cable reinstallment.
