TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo as the inspector of the funeral ceremony of third Indonesian President Bacharuddin Jusuf or BJ Habibie at National Heroes Cemetery or TMP Kalibata said that the third Indonesian President was the statesman who believed the importance of love in life.
“He is a true statesman, an inspirator, a scientist, who believes the peril of intelligence without love,” said the President, Thursday, September 12.
During his life, Habibie always reminded about science that must be balanced with faith and piety to the Only God. “Science, faith, and piety must be in unison,” he added.
Widodo said that Habibie since his young age was a forward thinker. He did not think about what happened in Indonesia at that time, but foresee the country’s future.
“He studied and worked to develop Indonesia for the next 50-100 years so Indonesia will lift off,” the president underlined.
The country’s strategic industries were born from Habibie’s visions, Widodo added. For example, Habibie’s N250 aircraft aired in the 50th anniversary of Indonesia independence.
“A planted history that inspires us to be confident to make Indonesia stands besides big countries in the world,” he remarked.
Jokowi further said that BJ Habibie was able to establish the basis of democracy in Indonesia during his office term as a president.
