TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State Secretary Minister Pratikno said President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has inked a Presidential Letter (Surpres) regarding the Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK Law revision.
“The President has signed the letter, and it has been sent to DPR (House of Representatives) today,” said Pratikno in his ministry office, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 11.
He said the government has made many revisions to the draft bill. Jokowi will later explain the details about the problem inventory list (DIM), he added.
“The government, the President, states that KPK is an independent body in eradicating corruption, has higher authorities than other institutions. The President will explain complete details. I think the House has received it,” Pratikno said.
This morning, Jokowi claimed he has just received the DIM draft. He said he will review it first before passing the Surpres. “We will announce it after we send the Surpres later, about materials needed to be amended,” he explained.
Additionally, Widodo stressed that he had asked for suggestions from several experts and related ministers in light of the revision of the Law No. 30/2002.
Ahead of the end of the office term of 2014-2019, the House members set to bring up the KPK Law revision in discussions. During a plenary hearing on Thursday, September 5, they agreed that the revision of the law is the House initiative.
