Java Power Outage Compensation Rp84bn, PLN Reports to DPR

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The total amount of compensation paid by PLN for the blackout or the Java power outage in early August was Rp840 billion. PLN acting president director Sripeni Inten Cahyani reported the payout to the House of Representatives on Tuesday during a meeting with Commission VII.

"In total, the compensation that we gave by reducing customers' September bills was Rp840 billion," she said

The Rp840 billion was paid to more than 21.98 million customers; comprising of 15.19 million subsidized subscribers and 6.79 million non-subsidized subscribers.

In total, subsidized customers were given billing discounts of Rp60 billion, while non-subsidized customers got Rp780 billion.

Sripeni said that the compensation policy adhered to the Energy Minister's Regulation no.27/2017.     

PLN had to compensate customers after a massive blackout in mist of Java Island on August 4.
