TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several flight departures and landings at the Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin Airport in the City of Banjarbaru were delayed by thick smog that has engulfed the area in the vicinity of the airport on Tuesday morning, September 10.
Based on the information gathered by Antara, one JT 320 flight from Jakarta was forced to circle the airport prior to landing at the airport due to the heavy smog.
The airport’s GM, Indah Preastuty, maintained that the minimum visibility required was not met during the smog, which eventually postponed several flights from and to the airport. The visibility on Tuesday morning was recorded at 600-meters.
“The average delays is one hour and twenty minutes, except for the flights that were close to the hours where visibility improved,” said Indah who had just arrived in Jakarta after being delayed from the Syamsudin Noor Airport.
There were officially seven flights that had to be delayed that consist of JT311 to Surabaya, JT321 to Jakarta, IW1394 to Balikpapan, JT521 to Yogyakarta, IN360 to Surabaya, IW1382 to Batulicin, and GA533 to Jakarta.
